Week 3 is in the books and while teams start to settle in, I think we can all agree on one thing: THE TIGHT END POSITION SUCKS. What also sucks this season is offense in general. Here’s a fun stat:
Teams today are averaging 21.4 points per game, the lowest since 2006. And passing yard totals this season are at around 193 yards per game, some of the lowest since 1992. Many theories have come up as to why offense is down, including poor O-Line play and depth, the lack of elite level quarterbacks, defenses getting smarter and most notably, two-high safeties, which seek to take away big plays and force offenses to beat defenses another way.
With this in mind, passing offense has suffered, but it has meant a resurgence to the running back position. If we were to do a re-draft after week three, I guarantee there would be more running backs taken in the first over receivers.
It is tough, but it looks like we’ll have to temper some of our expectations in the passing game, which will reflect in every week of start/sit. Speaking of start/sit, let’s get back to my week 4 start/sit decisions!
